D.C. Trip

2020

Venmo Update

Thank you for being so flexible with taking refunds through Venmo, however, I'm running into some technical issues, so much that I have been in contact with Venmo support.

The Issue: I can only spend $3000 per week using the Venmo app. There is nothing they can do to lift that restriction temporarily so I can complete this return swiftly.

Upon my bank transfer (estimated to arrive by Wednesday, 3/25) I can return all balances that are less than $300 and a couple who are above by Wednesday.

Those who are awaiting refunds of greater value have two choices:

1) You can wait until I can pay using Venmo again, or

2) Receive a check for your balance if you're in need.

I do have checks left from today's distribution and I plan to come back to NB early next week (day and time unknown right now) if folks need or if students still need instruments in the school (providing I will be permitted in the building at that time.)

Thank you again for your patience! I am trying my best to get your money back to you.

Refunds (3/19)

Your help is needed in order to get everyone's refunds out and still have a paper trail record of the account. We only have 90 checks and 140 refunds to process. Here is the request...

1) If you have a Venmo account - could you please email Mr. Chambers at cchambers@newbedfordschools.org and provide your account handle. Your refund will be processed that way.

2) Mr. Chambers will be in the school parking lot Friday, March 20, from    3-5 p.m. writing what checks he has for those who DO NOT have Venmo and ideally to those who have lost wages during this time.

3) Mr. Chambers will not be carrying cash to refund

More checks will be on order tomorrow but usually have a 2 week turnaround. If you can wait for these checks to arrive, please do.

Thank you for your understanding and kindness during this time!

Please Read Thoroughly

It is with great sadness that we must cancel our trip to DC for this year. This decision has single handedly been one of the hardest I have made in my long career and history organizing trips.

The variables are this:

1) We don't know how long the pandemic or restrictions will last.

2) I'm not in a position to gamble with your money.

What you need to know:

1) Please DO NOT pay me any more money!!!

2) I have already started the process with the companies to have our deposits refunded - (contractually, they are non-refundable) but I am working with the "under the circumstances" reasoning.

3) Your money will be fully refunded. I may need to wait until we are allowed back in school, however, you will receive a check for the amount you paid toward your trip - not fundraised money.

4) As a result of the cancellation, and if we see a decline to restrictions of group activities, Ms. Phillips and I are hoping we can organize something fun (a day trip is possible) We would use the fundraised money to offset all cost of that activity.

Stay Tuned!

However, we will hopefully still have a concert and we must plan for and be prepared to put one on. Please do what you can to practice over your #coronacation!

Any other announcements will be updated here with an alert on Remind.

Please help spread the word!
